The school is situated on the western outskirts of the town of Caerphilly. It stands on the main road that links the A470 to the Rhymney Valley, making it easily accessible from all surrounding areas. The school is a Junior school which covers Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum and caters for children between the ages of 7 and 11. Hendre Juniors is in the very advantageous position of being in close proximity not just to its feeder Infants School but also to St Cenydd Comprehensive School, with which it shares a site. This, along with the very close working links between all three schools, provides our children with a continuum of learning from 3 to 18.
Hendre Junior School opened in 1991 and comprises eight spacious and well-appointed classrooms, which the enthusiastic team of teaching and support staff have set up to provide a vibrant and stimulating learning environment. In addition, the school houses an art room, an ICT Hub, a well-resourced library / Literacy room, Numeracy room, a large multi-purpose hall and a playground which, following extensive investment and development, consists of a large yard, outdoor classroom, large shelter with picnic benches, adventure trail, stage and Hendre’s Haven - a quiet area and Eco Zone - and benefits from two external wi-fi access points.
